Ellie FillerI have invited a number of authors, leaders and coaches who have reviewed my recently released book, A Love Story, to contribute their thoughts and ideas, and particularly those prompted by their reading of this book. Over several weeks they have been sharing their insights and wisdom about the importance of building deep and loving relationships. This is the fourth in the series and the author is Ellie Filler, a Senior Client Partner in Korn Ferry. She is based in Switzerland and focusing on consumer and life sciences industries, she leads the EMEA Human Resources Practice. She has been frequently published on the topic of human resources in organizations and has made several presentations at global conferences on this subject. Her most recent article (co-written with David Ulrich) “Why Chief Human Resources Officers Make Great CEOs” was published in the December 2014 issue of Harvard Business Review. Ellie sits on the Non Executive Board of the Swiss Australian Chamber of Commerce and is fluent in English, Russian and German. Her guest blog appears below:

Reading A Love Story  firstly reminded me how many beautiful films about love I have watched, but here is an astonishingly honest and incredibly real story from a friend who has lived and continues to live in, and from, this source of love. Drawing on what may seem the “impossible dream” of his life, Lance, through his story and through his poetry, shows us just how it can be true for us all. And this connection of dream to reality transcends time, transcends situations – it just becomes a cocoon that informs every decision and everything he sees.

During every moment while reading this book, and much long after, I have remained in its afterglow. Someone’s experience of true love has touched me, causing me to also experience love and connect to the dream and make that dream part of my own life. And so Lance’s story becomes mine and then ours, as I share its energy with those around me.

A Love Story is the embodiment of everything Lance lives, (sadly, I never had the honor of meeting Tricia), with openness, courage, giving and respect, sincerity and connectedness to everything and everyone. Those honest, deep individual moments in his life that come from his truest depth are also the individual deep moments for so many of us, if we can only hear them. And Lance, thank you for giving us the opportunity to travel to all those wonderful places and to pause and listen with you.
