The improv comedy troupe Basic Character Flaws, comprised of Matt Scott, Dorian Normand, Teance Blackburn, and Kevin Boyle, has joined with the distinguished nonprofit Seaside Repertory Theatre to extend the positive effects of comedy beyond the faces in their audience.

After spending time in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity and working side by side with the Habitat home owners it became obvious to The Flaws that a few weekends a year painting houses would not create the changes they wished to see. So, they asked themselves, “What can 4 improvisers do to really make a difference?”

Their answer: Break the unofficial world record for a consecutive improv comedy performance and perform a 100 hour show, 100% for Habitat for Humanity. The entire cast is inspired by the idea that improv can cover the cost of a home for a family in need, and believe the concept is extreme enough to garner the attention they need to raise a substantial amount of money.

However, it will take an immense amount of work to achieve their goal of raising the $75,000 necessary to build one Habitat for Humanity home in New Orleans. In order for the show to be a success The Flaws need assistance in raising preproduction funds and publicity.

The 100 hour show is scheduled to run from August 1st at 6:00pm until 10:00pm August 5th. All donations go through the Seaside Repertory Theatre www.seasiderep.org and are tax deductible. Donations must be designated to ìThe Flaws 100 hr. show preproduction.î
